CNN founder Ted Turner today apologised for comments he made regarding the Christian religion, committing $200 Million to fight Malaria in partnership with two Church groups.
Mr Turner previously labeled Christianity a "religion for losers", and called into question those of the Christian faith.
The CNN founder also asked employees of the network who were to celebrate Ash Wednesday whether they were "Jesus Freaks", and told them to work for Fox News - the conservative backing news network owned by Rupert Murdoch.
The media entrepreneur today told the Associated Press (AP) that he was sorry for the comments, and committed funds toward Christian activities in Africa.
"I regret anything I said about religion that was negative," Mr Turner said.
"Religion is one of the bright spots as far as I'm concerned, even though there are some areas, like everything else, where they've gone over the top a little, in my opinion,"
"But I'm sure God, wherever he is, wants to see us get along with one another and love one another."
Mr Turner said that he would donate about $200 Million to the Lutheran and Methodist churches.
Ted Turner was a key driver in the disastrous takeover and merger of CNN and other media assets with Time Warner and later AOL. It is estimated Mr Turner lost up to $8 Billion in the early 2000 deal.
